Therapy for Children
At Inner Growth, we offer services to children from the age of 10 years old through the teen years.
There is also a page dedicated to teens, describing what therapy may look like for them.
We believe that it is very important to incorporate family members with our work with children. Often times a parent or guardian will be invited into sessions or a separate session will be scheduled.
It is also important to identify practical and customizable interventions that can be incorporated into daily routines. The goal in therapy is for the child to feel safe, comfortable and empowered to apply the new strategies taught in session.
Sometimes your child may be nervous to start counseling. This is completely normal. We are happy to discuss the best way to speak with your child about coming and how counseling can help. Sharing with them that a therapist is like a teacher, only we didn’t go to school to learn how to teach math and science, etc.
We went to school to help kids like them learn to manage the things they are feeling and things they may be struggling with. We consider our role to be one of support for the child and their family.
