Jennifer is a licensed clinical social worker and completed her education at Aurora University. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees are in social work. Jennifer has worked in residential/outpatient substance abuse counseling and private practice, working with several different populations, crisis work, and community outreach.
Jennifer also holds a certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CADC. As a CADC, Jennifer understands the disease model of addiction and uses bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to meet client’s where they are at in their recovery.
Her other areas of expertise and special interest include anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, grief/loss, Adult Children of Alcoholic (ACOA) concerns, gambling, self-injury, life transitions, body image, trauma informed care and is LGBTQ+ affirming. She focuses her work on those 18 and older but has experience and enjoys working with clients 12 years old and up.
In sessions with clients, Jennifer hopes to empower each person to make changes that the client has identified. She follows the client’s lead with their personal journey through health and healing. Jennifer understands that having a safe, comfortable and understanding environment is key in the process of change. She encourages clients to practice empathy and self-compassion through their growth journey. Jennifer uses evidence-based treatment including CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and DBT as well as integrating a client centered approach.
Jennifer is in the process of earning a certification to become an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider. This training will increase her ability to help clients understand and manage their ADHD diagnosis. This page explains more on how therapy can help with ADHD.
In her spare time, Jennifer loves all things pertaining to music and movies. She enjoys spending time crafting in art as well as time spent with family and friends and of course, the extended family’s two rescue dogs.
